How To Check Your Tax Refund Status – Call or Online
It can be frustrating to file your annual income tax return then having to wait wondering when you’ll get your tax refund. No worries, you can get an estimated date of when your tax refund will be deposited or when a check will be released 24 hours after the IRS has accepted your return electronically. If you mailed your return, then you’ll need to wait at least 3 to 4 weeks prior to checking the status of your tax refund.
You have two options on checking the status of your tax refund. You can call the IRS or you can go to the IRS.gov online tool and click on “Where’s My Refund?”.
How to Call the IRS for Your Tax Refund Status

- Filing status
- The exact refund you are owed by the IRS

The IRS tax refund hotline is 1-800-829-1954. The automatic service is available 7 days a week 24 hours a day. When prompted you’ll have to provide the three items referenced above.
How to Use the IRS online tool of “Where’s My Refund?”
You’ll need to go to IRS.gov select “Where’s My Refund” on the right side of the website or Click Here. Enter your social security number or taxpayer ID number. Indicate your filing status and the exact amount of your refund then click “Submit”. It’ll provide you with a progress update on where your refund is at.
